How To Create An Explorer’s Paradise At Home

Guess what? You actually don’t need a plane ticket or any kind of plan to get away from home to become a real adventurer - you can turn your home into the perfect place to be an explorer, and your backyard is the perfect place to start. If you can do it (and we’re going to give you some excellent ideas in this blog post), you’ll be able to have fun, get fit, and keep your mind active and busy all from the comfort of your own home - of course, you can still go on other adventures, but when you create an explorer’s paradise in your backyard, you’ll never have to worry about how, where, or when again. Read on to find out more.

Map Out Your Base Camp

Think about any adventure you’ve ever thought about or read about - they all start with a base camp for the explorers to use. So, that’s why you need to do the same at home - start by working out which spot in your backyard can be your base camp and you can start planning from there. What do we mean? Well, it could be a corner of the backyard, an open space that’s only used for your activities, or a handy shed to store all your gear and even enjoy a bit of a rest from time to time - something like that would work perfectly.

And remember, if you’re building a shed you should be thinking of sustainability - it’s what all good adventurers do, after all. So always use a good eco-friendly shed base and everything else should work out when you’ve got a sturdy, strong, secure shed that’s all about being good to the environment.

Add A Climbing Wall

Once your base camp is in place, you can think about the activities you want to have in your adventure zone - it’s really going to depend on what you like to do and what you think would work best in the space, but one great option could be a climbing wall. You can buy climbing holds online, for example, and you just need to attach them to a strong fence or wall (or perhaps your shed), and that’s it.

Not only is this a great activity to keep you fit, but it’s also a fun way to do it, and you might even get the rest of your family involved. Just remember to put something soft on the ground below like grass, rubber mats, mulch, or sand, for example, to be on the safe side.

Create Nature Trails

Perhaps you’re more of an explorer than a physical adventurer, and that’s okay - you can still use your backyard and have some amazing times. Why not create some simple nature trails around the garden and use different types of flooring to help make it more interesting? There’s grass, stepping stones, gravel, bark, and more, plus you can make the trail weave in and out of trees and shrubs to give it more of an adventurous feel.

Along the route, you can add things like bird houses and insect hotels or perhaps even start a beehive or have an aviary - then you’ll definitely have something exciting to see as you walk along.
