Pumphouse Beach, Vernon
About Pumphouse Beach, Vernon, BC
Pumphouse Beach is located along the edge of amazing Kalamalka Lake in the world-famous Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. The lake is well known for its warm summertime waters and stunning aqua-blue colors. Kal Lake has many beaches and parks where you can spend the day with the family. Perhaps the most popular spot on Kalamalka Lake is Kal Beach, which is just down the road from Pumphouse Beach, but on any given day you can bet that Kal is packed with tourists, so Pumphouse is generally a quieter and more relaxing spot.
The beach itself is fair-sized but does have limited space and considering that it is in a busy tourist area it does tend to fill up with people quite quickly in the summer and parking is very limited, so be sure to get there early. It is mostly sandy and the water is very clear which makes it the perfect place to go swimming paddle boarding, or kayaking. The beach has no amenities but is just a short walk to the Kalamalka General Store and Kalavida Surf Shop where you can rent bikes, paddleboards, kayaks, and other water toys.
