Red Sand Beach, Vernon
About Red Sand Beach, Okanagan Valley, BC
Red Sand Beach is a small beach situated in a cove of the peninsula of Okanagan Lake called Cameron Point located in Vernon, British Columbia. It features a quiet and picturesque place to relax or have a family picnic under the large weeping willows. Red Sand Beach has unique red sand granules that are easy on the feet and help to filter the water making it crystal clear and a great spot for swimming. Kayaking and paddleboarding are also a great choice at Red Sand Beach and the water is shallow, allowing you to walk out pretty far and in turn making it an excellent place for small children to swim.
The beach is beautiful but has limited space and parking so getting there first is essential, but if you don’t get a spot there are several other parks with beaches in the area including Ellison Provincial Park, Hurlburt Park, and Whitepoint Beach, as well as a few other unnamed coves that people use for swimming.
