Playa Xcalacoco is situated on the northern shores of Playa del Carmen, Mexico in the popular Mayan Riviera region of Quintana Roo. The beach consists of gorgeous white sand and has some rocky areas where tidepools form and you can spot interesting sea creatures. It is a much quieter escape than the crowded beaches in the south and has public access to anybody wishing to visit. That being said, due to its location those that typically visit Playa Xcalacoco are locals and vacationers staying on the north side of the city.
Xcalacoco Beach is full of fun activities and is well known for its cheap massage stands, where you can get a great massage while lying on this pristine beach. There are beach hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, and souvenir stands that line the area’s beautiful white beach, giving visitors plenty of options to choose from.
The water at Xcalacoco is generally very calm depending on the wind that day and is somewhat sheltered by the reef. It is also protected by the island of Cozumel, which lies just across the sea in plain view
