Shady Beach, Vernon, BC
About Shady Beach, Kalamalka Lake, British Columbia
Shady Beach is a small slice of Okanagan paradise that lies on the shores of the incredibly beautiful Kalamalka Lake, British Columbia. This idyllic beach is situated on Westkal Road in the village of Coldstream, which is technically considered the greater Vernon area.
The park is pretty much undeveloped with no amenities aside from two parking spaces, a trash can, and some decent landscaping. It has a small beach area that is perfect for taking a nice dip in the cerulean blue waters of Kalamalka. Some large trees provide shade and make this beach perfect for family picnics. Keep in mind there are no washrooms and nowhere to sit, so you will need to bring chairs or a blanket.
If you do decide to check out Shady Beach, I suggest getting there early as Kalamalka is a very popular tourist destination, and for good reason. If you find that the park is already occupied then head down the road to one of the other local beaches or take a walk on the nearby Okanagan Rail Trail where there are a ton of small beaches.
