Games to play in airports with friends
That airport buzz is something that never gets old for most of us. The excitement and expectation of jetting off are usually enough to keep you entertained, but there are times when something extra is needed. Layovers, delays, and just standard waiting times can feel like a drag, so here are some fun games to play with friends and family to help your airport time fly by.
Travel trivia
Everyone loves a bit of trivia, so why not get in the holiday mood with a travel theme? Test each other’s knowledge with travel trivia questions and set prizes for winners – this could be anything from choosing who gets the best room to deciding the next destination!
Prepare a list of questions related to counties, capitals, landmarks, and travel history, and then take turns quizzing each other. It’s simple, but great fun!
Mobile games
Technology is your best friend at times like these, so make full use of it with the various mobile games out there. Play together on multiplayer games like Among Us, QuizUp and Draw Something, or get your bingo on in a mobile app.
Hopefully, you’ve all got portable chargers so you can game to your heart’s content without worrying about your charge at the other end!
Card games
A deck of cards is an ever-reliable travel companion. You can use it at your destination but also if you’re sitting around waiting at the airport. It’s easy to pass time with friends with classic games like Poker, Rummy, Cheat, Blackjack, or dart board game using red dragon darts – all of which can be played just about anywhere.
If you’ve got different types of cards and board games, you can also rely on favorites such as Cards Against Humanity, Uno, or Monopoly. Just don’t get too competitive before your trip!
Guess the destination
Another good idea is to use the airport facilities to inspire a game. One example is “Guess the destination” using the various departure boards that should be visible around the terminal.
Take turns choosing destinations and provide clues to your fellow travelers without revealing the place. Other players can then try to guess the destination through clues about culture, landmarks, and location features. Have a go!
DIY scavenger hunt
Get creative in the airport terminal and create a list of items people have to find or scenarios people have to capture with their phones. Whether it’s spotting a certain airline logo or taking a selfie with a pilot, a scavenger hunt is an easy way to keep things interesting.
Hopefully, it’s not too long until you’re ready to board. Find a fun, easy game and watch the time fly by!
