Soccer, formerly known as "association football," was first introduced by the British colonial masters and has formed part of South Sudan's sporting history dating from the early 20th century. For example, despite the unrest and having very few resources, soccer has created unity among many communities within South Sudan. It worked in a way that through infrastructure development, academies, and having a winning national team, it not only showed the country's talent to the world but also promoted social change and a touch of nationalism within the country.
