3 Tips For Capturing Beautiful Landscapes While Traveling
If you love to travel and want to bring some keepsakes home with you afterward, some of the best ways to do this is to document where you were. This can be particularly impactful if you are able to capture the beauty of the landscape and then put those recreations in your home to see on a daily basis. However, getting beautiful landscape photos or paintings of a landscape can be challenging.
To help you with this, here are three tips for capturing beautiful landscapes while traveling.
Know What You’re Focusing On
When you’re trying to capture a landscape, you may be tempted to try to get as much of the view as possible. And while this is a good thought, if you want the art you create to be impactful, you should actually try to focus your framing a bit more.
Whether you’re painting or sketching your own landscape after taking art classes or you’re trying to take a beautiful photo, it can be helpful to just focus on one idea at a time. By doing this, it will give your artwork something to focus on in addition to helping to draw people’s eye to certain aspects of the photos, painting, or drawing. What you focus on could be big or small, but you should have it be one of the only things that really stands out in the artwork you’re making.
Implement The Rule Of Thirds
As you’re setting up your shot or getting ready to paint or sketch the landscape, something that you’ll want to keep in mind is the rule of thirds.
When it comes to visual art, the rule of thirds recommends that you section the scene into nine equal grids over the visual you’re trying to create. This can most easily be done by splitting the scene into three both horizontally and vertically. Then, where the lines meet at the four different points in the scene, you should try to make these areas stand out more, as this is where people’s eyes are naturally drawn when looking at a picture or photo.
Capture Golden Hour
To really get the best version of the view that you’re trying to capture, you should try to see what the place looks like at the golden hour. The golden hour happens each day, and it’s just as the sun has set and just before the sun rises. The light that the sun gives off at these times in the day makes the world look like it’s glowing. So if you want the best lightning for your photos or the inspiration for your drawing or painting of the landscape you love from your trip, make sure you see it in the golden hour
If you want to capture beautiful landscapes of the places that you’ve traveled to, consider implementing the tips mentioned above to help you in doing this.
