What are the Parking Options at the Airport?

Of course, you can use the train, the bus or a taxi to get to the airport, but these options aren’t always ideal. Taxis can be expensive, especially if you are traveling alone, and public transport isn’t available day and night. Sometimes you just want to drive to the airport in the comfort of your own car. This way, you don’t have to drag your luggage from cart to cart and walk several miles. But how does airport parking work? And what are your options? We’ve made an overview of all the options you have when it comes to airport parking.

Airport Owned Parking Spaces

All airports offer parking spaces on the compound. Usually, they are divided into different sections. There is the possibility of parking near the terminal. This option is generally only for people that are there to pick someone up or drop someone off. You will see a lot of taxis here, and the fees for parking are often quite high. You are not allowed to park here for a long period of time. This is not a parking option when you are going away for a while.

If you want to park at the airport for multiple days or weeks, you have to look at long-stay parking spaces. Airports offer these too, but they are typically further away from the terminal. You can park your car there and catch a shuttle bus to the airport.

Offsite Airport Parking Lots

The possibilities for airport parking are there, as we have seen, but the fees are usually very high. If you want to park near the airport, but don’t want to pay too much, you can also look at possibilities for offsite airport parking, like long-term parking at Seatac. Different companies offer parking spaces near the airport, but not on the airport compound. You can safely park your car here for a much lower rate. The service is excellent, the parking spaces are monitored 24/7, and you can simply book your parking space at home. They even offer you different options for parking. You can drive your car to the parking space yourself and use the shuttle bus to get to the terminal. But you can also select a Meet and Greet option. If you choose this, there will be an employee waiting for you at the terminal. You can hand over your car there, and they will safely park it for you. This option costs a bit more than you parking your car yourself, but it does make traveling a whole lot easier.

Hotel Airport Parking Lots

Sometimes, it can be easier and even cheaper to book a hotel room near the airport on the day before you leave. You can park your car for free, or for a low fee, at the hotel, and you can simply relax and prepare for your trip without any worries. Your car will be safely parked until you get home. At Parkos, you can also book this option when arranging a parking spot for your car. They will arrange the hotel room, the parking spot, and the transfer to the airport for you.
