Fun Travel Tips to Impress Your Friends

Fun Travel Tips to Impress Your Friends

From the uncharted borders of civilization to the rolling green hills of the discovered world, there are a million parts of travel that make the experience worth the effort. Key among these is the friends we make along the way. Whether new friends in a small village to like-minded compatriots out traveling the world, spending time with others can be a great way to recharge and reconnect us with our humanity.

Time with people is also a great way to have fun, and with a few tricks, you can leave as much of a mark on the people you meet as they leave on you. With that in mind, here are a few simple and common tricks you can use to (hopefully) impress the friends you make along the way.

Solve a Rubik’s Cube

Rubik's Cubes are puzzles many of us grew up with, but short of removing and replacing the stickers, they're not puzzles many of us have solved. What you might not know is that Rubik's Cubes aren't as complicated as they first seem. By using simple algorithms, it’s possible to solve any Rubik’s Cube within just a few minutes. It might start with your friends looking at you like you're wasting time like anyone else, but their expressions as you rotate the final part into place are always something to behold.

Master Card Games

Card games are popular all over the world, transcending borders, cultures, and language barriers. Centered on luck, it's often impossible to use strategy to master a card game, but this isn't always the case. Blackjack is one such example, where card counting can give you a serious edge if used properly. By applying a simple running score of cards while you play, you can narrow down the likelihood of what comes next, and impress your friends with your ‘luck’ as you play. Just remember to keep it to casual games, and not to sub your good fortune in anyone's face. Or if you are in the mood for something more relaxing, then you can play a well-known Classic Solitaire.

juggling

Learn to Juggle

Juggling is one of those skills that seems impossible, but even uncoordinated folks can learn to juggle with enough practice. Learning tricks like the 3-ball cascade can be broken down into simple steps that eventually go from seemingly impossible to basic muscle memory. Though we wouldn't recommend you practice with anything crucial like a cell phone, a few tennis balls or hackysacks are easy to find and suit your purposes perfectly. If you ever want to ingratiate yourself with the local kids and earn the hearts of their parents in the process, it's hard to do better than a little juggling skill.

Like any skill, nothing impressive comes in a day. At first, these skills can seem impossible, but remember that it takes most people's brains a few days to consolidate new information, be patient, and you'll soon see the impossible as second nature. For making new friends, convincing old ones that you’re smarter than you really are, or just passing what you learned onto others, consider the above before taking your next trip into the world.
