La Union is best known as the Surfing Capital of Northern Luzon. The Cordillera Mountains corner the locale to the West Philippine Sea, an arid strip of land with water and beach. Aside from La Union, Baler is one of the most prominent surfing spots. However, La Union remains the most easily accessible, with only 6-7 hours on paved roads, and one of the most tourism-ready, boasting a steadily growing number of resorts and restaurants.
