Londoners and those living in the South West were particularly keen on this idea, with 37% and 35% respectively believing that working from another country would be financially beneficial to them. This is understandable, given that the average cost of living for a single person in the UK is estimated to be around £2,005 per month. Working from a country with a lower cost of living could provide significant savings.
Top Destinations for Digital Nomads
So, which countries are best suited for a workcation for digital nomads? The survey found that Georgia was the top choice, followed closely by Romania and the Czech Republic. Georgia offers a low cost of living (£817.11 per month), a free 12-month initial visa, and a low crime rate. Despite its low median internet speed of just 19.68MBps, it scored 80.5 points out of a possible 120 in the ranking.
Romania offers an extremely low cost of living (-80% compared to the UK), as well as a high average internet broadband speed and the chance to stay in the country for 12 months with an initial visa. The Czech Republic, although slightly more expensive than Romania, still offers a lower cost of living (40% lower than the UK), a low crime rate, and a free 12-month visa for digital nomads.
Other countries that made the top ten include Hungary, which has a cost of living similar to that of Georgia (£824.59 per month), a high internet speed of 99.86MBps, and a 12-month visa for digital nomads.
