How to Add a Little Luxury to Your Lounge

There is nothing wrong with a little luxury being added to your home and your lounge should be the first place you give it. A lounge is the first room where you spend a lot of your time relaxing and entertaining. When you come home for a long day of work, you kick your shoes off, you hang up your jacket and you go straight to your sofa, which is conveniently located in the lounge.

So why wouldn't you want to have the best of the best furniture in there? The best sofas to sit on? This is your nest. This is where you balance your favorite coffee on your modern glass coffee table. This is where you put your feet up to watch TV and it's where you put your Christmas tree. When you get to the season of festivities, you want it looking into its best to appeal to everybody in the family. So let's take a look at how you can add a little bit of luxury to your lounge.

  1. Upgrade your furniture. Switching out your wooden furniture for glass is a great way to add some luxury to your lounge because all the light is going to bounce right off of it to all the corners of the rim. Glass can often give your lounge a sleek and modern look, and it's a great place to begin if you're looking at adding just a touch of luxury fest. Wooden chests and shelves can all be swapped to glass cabinetry as well. Just be careful if you have kids because those smudgy fingers get everywhere.

  2. Swap out your window fittings. Heavy curtains are great for the winter months, but some sheer curtains are an accessible way to add a little luxury to your lounge. Sheer curtains enhance your privacy, and it allows the outside light to flood softly through the room. You can choose a sleek or discrete design with blinds as well, but just make sure that they are blackout blinds so that you can enjoy a cosy movie night when you want to.

  3. Upgrade the fixtures. If your fixtures are currently brassy, you might want to upgrade them to silver to go for something more modern. Chrome fixtures changed to gold can give you a touch of class, and earthy tones can provide that character to your lounge that you've been looking for a little pop of warmth through gold fixtures can also really help to elevate the look to be more luxurious too.

  4. Bounce the light with mirrors. Mirrors are a great way to reflect natural light around a rim, and it can really give that illusion of space and height that you'd be looking for. If you put a mirror opposite a window or a glass door, you'll trick the eye into thinking that the room is so much bigger than it actually is, which really does give it that luxury touch.

  5. Go for rich colors. If you want luxury, then royal blues and deep purples are a great way to exude that drama that you're looking for. Darker greens and velvet materials are perfect for those winter months as well.
