About Jade Bay Beach, Kalamlaka Lake, BC
Jade Bay Beach is one of about 5 or so beaches located within Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park which is a 978 hectares (2,420 acres) piece of amazing Okanagan wilderness set aside for your pleasure. Kalamalka Lake is situated in the stunning Okanagan Valley, British Columbia and with all of the lake’s attributes, it is hands down one of the best in the country of Canada. The lake is perhaps most well known for its incredibly vibrant turquoise color that it turns in mid-summer as the warmth of the waters has a reaction with a mineral called calcite. Kal is also popular for its warm water and abundance of beaches, hiking, and an abundance of watersport activities.
Jade Bay Beach itself is a short 5-minute hike through the woods and down to the gorgeous sandy bay. It features several picnic tables and an outhouse making it the ideal beach for families. The beach is fairly long and has plenty of room to throw down a blanket and get your tan on. As with most of Kalamalka, the water is crystal clear and wonderful for an afternoon swim. This beach is also the perfect spot to come and watch the brilliant Okanagan sunsets that occur here every evening throughout the summer.
