The aptly named Pig Beach is exactly what it sounds like. Yes, it is a beach where visitors can interact with friendly pigs. Located in between the two beach towns of Chelem and Progreso in the gorgeous state of Yucatan, Mexico, Pig beach is a must visit attraction for tourists of all ages. the pigs are obviously the main attraction, but the beach also features various photo op spots with swings and pig statues. to top it off there are some places to buy food and souvenirs and a there is also small beach hut where you can purchase various drinks and cocktails.
How to Get to Pig Beach
Getting to Pig Beach from Progreso is fairly easy and all one has to do is either grab a taxi or an Uber and from there it should only take maybe 10 minutes.
Pig Beach Hours
Pig beach is open from 10AM to 6PM and it is important to note that the pigs are only allowed to come out 3 times per day for 30 minutes per time in order to protect them from sunburn. These times are 11AM, 3PM, and 5PM.
Pig Beach Tours
There are various tours that go to Pig Beach and they typically cater to cruise ship passengers and are probably quite fun and convenient, but can be a bit expensive. For a more budget-friendly option, it is recommended to avoid the tours and get your own transportation from downtown Pregreso as entrance to Pig Beach is free.
