Playa de Los Muertos, Sayulita
Playa de Los Muertos is one of Sayulita, Mexico’s most prized possessions, and is a must-see attraction when visiting the Riviera Nayarit. Known to be one of Sayulita’s quieter and less crowded beaches, Playa de Los Muertos is the perfect day trip away from the crowds like the ones that gather at Playa Sayulita. The beach is situated in a crescent-shaped cove with rocky outcroppings and gorgeous mountain jungle scenery. It is located just a short walk from the downtown area and the main beach of Playa Sayulita but has much calmer waves and better swimming conditions. Given the relative calmness of the water, beachgoers will enjoy snorkeling and get to witness a plethora of colorful tropical fish.
Playa de Los Muertos gets its name from the graveyard that visitors will need to pass on the way to the beach. The graveyard adds an interesting contrast between life and death or light and dark and is definitely worth checking out.
