The name Playa La Lancha conjures up positive vibes mixed with raw adrenaline to those who are in the know. A true surfers hideaway and adventure seekers paradise that is tucked away in the jungles of Nayarit, Mexico, and is perfectly situated on the northern shores of the Bay of Banderas near the lovely village of Punta de Mita.
Once you make your way to Playa La Lancha, if you don’t already have a surfboard, there is a surfboard rental shop WildMex Surf & Adventure and it is located right next to the OXXO convenience store, where you can get drinks and snacks before you head down to the beach. If you’re not a surfer, no worries the beach is still a great time and well worth the visit. Surf lessons are also common at Playa La Lancha and are a good option for those looking to learn from an instructor and use a rental surfboard.
On the beach, you will be blown away by the pure white sand and the scenery that goes along with it. You will see a small tree that provides a shady area and the ideal spot for taking epic photos. The waves are perfect for surfing, but keep in mind that they are quite rough if you’re just looking to have a nice calm swim. On one side of the beach is a swamp where you can spot local wildlife that could possibly include crocodiles.

How to Get to Playa La Lancha
To get to Playa La Lancha, check your Google Maps and you’ll see an OXXO convenience store directly on the highway above the beach, just hop on a bus or take an Uber and have them drop you off there. If you don’t already have a surfboard, there is a surfboard rental shop WildMex Surf & Adventure and it is located right next to the OXXO. If you’re not a surfer, no worries the beach is still a great time and well worth the visit. The path accessing the beach is situated across the highway and is quite overgrown by jungle, so it can be easy to miss. If you have a car you will be able to park it in the big parking lot and walk across the highway to access the beach. The hike down to the beach haven of Playa La Lanch can vary greatly in difficulty depending on the time of year you choose to visit. If it’s the dry season, then great, no worries, just head down the path and you’ll be there within 10 minutes. On the other hand, if it is the rainy season, well there you’re in for a bit of terror-filled adventure as you will need to wade through crocodile-inhabited swamps.
