History
The history of this mountain village is an interesting one and the name Pollenca is actually derived from the name of an ancient Roman settlement called Pollentia which has been excavated and can be visited several miles away near Old Town Alcúdia. The town originated in the 13th century by the Catalan people when they moved away from the shores and into the mountains in order to avoid attacks from invaders.
