Carmel River State Beach
About Carmel River State Beach, USA
Carmel River State Beach is a gorgeous white sand beach located in the whimsical village of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The park features the aptly named Carmel River Lagoon and Wetlands Natural Preserve and is the outflow point of the Carmel River. The lagoon is an incredible wildlife-watching area and has many species of birds.
There is also a hiking trail known as the Bluff Top Trail That leads you to Monastery Beach, another beautiful beach within the state park. There is also Carmel Beach, which is just a short drive away and is closer to the town Carmel-by-the-Sea, so there is usually more going on there.
Swimming at Carmel River State Beach is not recommended, as it is highly dangerous and the water contains powerful riptides, that being said it is an amazingly beautiful spot to catch some rays in the wonderful California sunshine.
