What is Los Rapidos
Los Rapidos (The Rapids) is essentially a channel of water that connects two parts of the lagoon together. The natural flow of the current makes the rapids perfect for watersports like tubing, kayaking, and swimming. Along the edge of the waterway grow tons of the amazing ancient organisms called stromatolites.
Laguna Bonanza or Los Rapidos Laguna de Bacalar
There are two different ways to access the channel, the beach clubs of Laguna Bonanza or Los Rapidos Laguna de Bacalar. Both are excellent, the latter of the two is very commercialized and expensive but has a few more options in terms of activities. Those who enjoy something a bit more quiet, relaxed, and budget-friendly will enjoy what Laguna Bonanza has to offer. Laguna Bonanza will also allow you to bring your own drinks and food which is something you’re not allowed to do at Los Rapidos Laguna de Bacalar.
