About Pioneer Park, Shuswap, British Columbia
Pioneer Park is a place of historical significance that lies along the shores of gorgeous Shuswap Lake, British Columbia. It is the main beach and gathering area for locals who call the village of Celista their home. It features a nice-sized sand and rock beach with plenty of room for a family picnic. The park also boasts outhouses and the North Shuswap Community Hall.
The historic North Shuswap Community Hall was first named the Agricultural Hall and was constructed in 1934. It was well-known for having the largest dance floor in the province of British Columbia. The hall started out with no electricity as the North Shuswap didn’t get power until 1957. The hall’s first Christmas dances featured trees that were lit using batteries.
