Mirador el Cerro de la Cruz, Puerto Vallarta
About Mirador el Cerro de la Cruz, Jalisco, Mexico
Mirador La Cruz del Cerro (The Cross on the Hill Lookout) is a hike in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that offers hikers a spectacular 360° panoramic view of the city, the Pacific Ocean, and the Bay of Banderas. It is by far the best view in the city and is located just 15-20 minutes from the popular tourist spot, the Malecon.
The La Cruz del Cerro Lookout gets its name from the giant cross that sits atop La Cruz Hill. Though the mountain is fairly small it does take a lot of energy to climb, but the hike is well worth a little struggle. In the past, there was a convenient cable car that would take visitors up the last part of the trek, but it seems to be out of service these days. The lookout used to provide access to bathrooms, which are now also out of service.
On clear days visitors can enjoy views of Los Arcos and can even see as far as Punta de Mita. Many people gather at the mirador daily to enjoy the unimpeded sunsets that the hike boasts.
