Fintry Provincial Park is a family-friendly lakeside destination located in the scenic Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Traders Cove Regional Park is a 13.5-hectare public beach that provides a gorgeous bay with picturesque scenery and two wonderful sandy beaches on popular Okanagan Lake. It is located on the Okanagan’s Westside Road between Fintry Provincial Park and Bear Creek Provincial Park. The park features a large gazebo with picnic tables that is perfect for family gatherings, as well as hiking trails that circumnavigate the park and lead you to the end of the small peninsula where you will have a perfect view of the city of Kelowna,
Killiney Beach Park is situated on the Westside Road of stunningly beautiful Okanagan Lake in British Columbia, Canada. It offers up an excellent place for a family picnic, swimming, boating, or watersports. it is located in the tiny lakeside community with the same name, Killiney Beach. The park features a boathouse with a dock, a boat launch, a sandy beach, outhouses, and 4 coves with picnic tables along with parking spaces and a nice place to swim. It lies just a short drive from one of the Okanagan’s most popular parks Fintry Provincial Park, which boasts many campsites, beaches, hiking trails, and the gorgeous Fintry Falls.
Francis Avenue Beach is located in the heart of the popular tourist destination known as the city of Kelowna, British Columbia, and is situated along the gorgeous Okanagan Lake. The beach lies just a few blocks south of the William R. Bennett Bridge, which is a pontoon bridge crossing Okanagan Lake and is the only way to get across the 135 km long body of water. The beach itself has nice fine sand and features great views looking towards Peachland. Right next to Francis Avenue Beach is another of Kelowna’s local attractions called the Maude Roxby Wetlands Boardwalk.
Johnson Lake, British Columbia is a stunning example of beauty but unfortunately garnered some much-unwanted attention in previous years when a photo of the lake featuring its incredibly clear blue waters went viral on social media and brought in hoards of people wanting to witness the lake’s natural brilliance. Though understandable why all those people would want to visit, the problem happened to be a lack of space and facilities to accommodate those campers and to top it off some of them chose to leave behind their trash, which understandably caused an uproar from the locals who once enjoyed the clean wilderness area. This eventually caused the shutdown of the lake and its campsite and caused strict enforcement of rules in order to preserve the pristine BC paradise.
Mabel Lake, British Columbia is a beautiful 26-mile long body of water with crystal clear waters. The lake has a marina with a store, a provincial campsite as well as several other free campsites further down the road. This pristine lake is situated in the spectacular Monashee Mountain range and perfectly tucked into the lush rainforests on the outer edges of the Okanagan region.
Juniper Bay Beach is located inside of Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, which is one of the Okanagan Valley's most prized possessions because of its gorgeous waters that turn a brilliant blue during the warm summertime temperatures. Only a short 10-minute drive from the city of Vernon, British Columbia but much less crowded than the more popular beaches like Kal Beach.
Foster Road beach is located in Vernon, British Columbia along gorgeous Okanagan Lake. It is a fairly small beach with several little private coves that are perfect for a family picnic or an afternoon swim to cool off after you hike the spectacular Adventure Bay Trail, which is just around the corner if you continue driving on the scenic Tronson Road. Foster Road Beach is also a great place to launch a kayak or paddleboard and cruise around the bays of Okanagan Lake or to popular Kin Beach.
Red Sands Beach is an incredibly beautiful spot which is situated on the shores of magnificent Kootenay Lake, and just outside of the laid back, free-loving hippie stronghold of Nelson, British Columbia. The beach is steeped in controversy over the fact that locals and travelers alike use the beach to get that full-body tan if you know what I mean. I mean nudity in case you were unsure. In the past, there have been proposals to develop commercial and residential units which would include the development of Red Sands Beach.
Lost Lake is a little known slice of British Columbia heaven that is situated directly off highway 6 between Cherryville in the Okanagan, and Fauquier in the Kootenays region. It is technically part of Cherryville but is quite far from the village and smack dab in the middle of nowhere. The area is open to the public and features bathrooms, picnic tables, and hiking trails.
For around 80 years this little slice of paradise known as Hurlburt Park was a summer camp for kids, and it wasn’t until recently that the city of Vernon, British Columbia purchased the land and turned it into this picturesque public beach. This is especially a treat for locals who drove by this mesmerizing spot on a regular basis while making their way out to nearby Ellison Provincial Park and always daydreamed of being able to one day lay on its that perfect sand.
Rattlesnake Point is the incredibly scenic tip of a rocky peninsula of Kalamalka Lake in Vernon, British Columbia, and is located in super popular Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, which is one of the top tourism destinations in the spectacular Okanagan Valley. Rattlesnake Point can be reached by any of the trailheads within the park and is generally around a 6 km hike round trip.
Sicamous Beach Park is a popular lakefront destination within the Shuswap region of British Columbia, Canada, and features a spectacular powder-white beach known as Silver Sands Beach, along with the crystal clear waters of Shuswap Lake. There is a designated swimming area that is great for a picnic or family beach day. There is also a playground, a water park, picnic tables, a volleyball court, and washrooms. Within the park, there are bushes of wild raspberries for the picking if you visit at the right time of year.
Situated near the picture-perfect village of Sorrento, British Columbia is the gorgeous beach called Meeks Point. It is a large beach with beautiful sand that juts out into the massive body of water known as Shuswap Lake. The beach itself protrudes so much that there had to be a light installed so that boat doesn’t run aground. You can be certain that daredevils have dove off of the light many times before. Meeks Point is a great place to take the family for a fun-filled beach day.
Shuswap Falls in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia is the result of the man-made Wilsey Dam site and provides an excellent place for swimming, cliff jumping, kayaking, canoeing, or just a good ole family picnic. There are also several hiking trails leading to beautiful swimming spots and to places where you can observe the dam and waterfalls in all their glory. Shuswap Falls is essentially a recreation area that includes a parking lot, picnic tables, and pit toilets.
Kekuli Bay Provincial Park Is situated in the endlessly scenic Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, and is just a few minutes south of the city of Vernon. It is a gorgeous bay that shimmers with aquamarine colors and is perfectly located on the world-famous Kalamalka Lake. The park has a convenient campground with stunning views of the lake, along with easy access to the water and boat launch. The grounds have large tracts of shrub-steppe grasslands that are common around the Okanagan Valley.
Mara lake along with the small village of Mara is located in the beautiful Shuswap region of British Columbia, Canada. The area is mostly covered in thick forests and enjoys a fairly mild climate by Canadian standards. The Shuswap is a picturesque holiday destination, much like it's neighbor, the world-famous Okanagan Valley.
Sugar Lake, British Columbia is surrounded by thousands of hectares of dense Okanagan wilderness, as well as lakes, rivers, and streams. The lake is situated 14 km from the quaint countryside community of Cherryville, and around 50 minutes from the city of Vernon. The lake itself is a product of the Sugar lake Dam, which was built in 1929 and turned part of the Shuswap river into what we now call Sugar Lake.
