About Cinnamon Ridge, Kamloops, British Columbia
Located in the beautiful province of British Columbia is the 4,25 km Cinnamon Ridge hiking trail, which leads adventurists through some of Canada’s only desert areas to a dramatic scene of ancient geologic wonders. Situated on the outskirts of the city of Kamloops, Cinnamon Ridge is one of many hiking trails in the Lac du Bois Grasslands Protected Area, but this particular hike is special and offers a chance to get up close and personal with some incredible hoodoo rock formations. The origins of these spectacular rocks are volcanic and are said to have erupted approximately 50 million years ago. During your hike, you will marvel at and also curse the spiny desert cactus, sagebrush, pine trees, and desert grasses that are abundant at Cinnamon Ridge.
