Albas Falls
About Albas Falls, Shuswap, British Columbia
Albas Falls is a must-visit attraction that adventure seekers should definitely add to their Shuswap bucket list. The falls are located in a fairly remote part of the region in between the picturesque villages of St. Ives and Seymour Arm, British Columbia. It is situated off Seymour Arm Forest Service Road in the Shuswap Lake Marine Provincial Park. Once in the park visitors will be treated to lush green rainforest that is supported by the moist air given off by the immense waterfall system.
The waterfalls feature a 5km loop hike that takes hikers around the waterfalls offering magnificent unimpeded views of the different sections. The hike is rather difficult in some areas and extra caution must be exercised while hiking the falls, as one slip into the water would mean certain death, and Albas Falls has tragically claimed lives in the past. That being said there is a huge difference in the intensity of the water flow depending on the time of year. In the spring the water is extremely intense and then obviously mellows out heading into the drier summer months. There is also a gorgeous seasonal white sand beach at the bottom of the falls on Shuswap Lake that appears when the water retreats.

How to Get to Albas Falls
The road out to the park is paved until the community of St. Ives and then it is gravel for the rest of the way. The road down to the falls is pretty rough and quite narrow in many places and visitors will have the option to park at the pullout near the top of the falls or drive all the way to the bottom and hike up the falls.
