About Soorimpt Provincial Park, Summerland, BC
Soorimpt Provincial Park is a popular rest stop situated along Highway 97 between Penticton and Summerland, British Columbia. It is one of 4 provincial parks in the area including Pyramid Provincial Park, Kickininee Provincial Park, and Sun-Oka Provincial Park. The park is day-use only and provides passers-by a great place to stop and stretch after a long road trip through the scenic Okanagan Valley, BC. It features public washrooms, picnic areas, as well as gorgeous coves with lovely beaches that are great for swimming. It is also an excellent place to launch kayaks or SUP paddleboards and is one of the most spectacular areas to explore via water.
The park got its unique name from a historical figure named Chief Sorimpt, who was an indigenous Okanagan tribal leader who battled against the hoards of Europeans that would inevitably colonize the region.
Soorimpt Provincial Park boasts exquisite views looking out on Okanagan Lake and has a wonderful backdrop of sandy desert bluffs that look like they belong in Arizona as opposed to Canada. Being located in the world-famous Okanagan Valley means Soorimpt is not very far from a ton of adventure including hiking, biking, wine tours, and much more.
