Osoyoos is a small beach town situated on the USA/Canada border. It is well-known for being the hottest spot in the country and is a popular vacation destination. It is an isthmus town which means it is located on a narrow strip of land separating two bodies of water, those being the north and south half of beautiful Osoyoos Lake. The village is part of the arid South Okanagan region in British Columbia, which is an area known for its abundance of lakes, sunshine, and warm weather.
Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park is a 4-hectare piece of land that is open for public use. It is perfectly situated on the shores of beautiful Okanagan Lake in the city of West Kelowna. The park is currently an active farm that grows a variety of nuts including hazelnuts, buartnuts, walnuts, and chestnuts. The park is family-friendly and features a playground, washrooms, access to walking trails, a small beach, and old cabins from the Gellatly family. Visitors to the park are able to wander through the nut orchards as they please.
Port de Pollença, also known as Puerto Pollensa, is a lovely Spanish town that is perfectly situated on the northern side of the island of Mallorca, Spain. It features a family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of worthy attractions and activities like swimming, boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. The geology of the port lends to the protection of the bay from prevailing winds, crashing waves and the water tends to be very calm and placid.
Kaleden Hotel Park lies on the shores of scenic Skaha Lake and is one of only two public parks located in the beautiful lakeside village of Kaleden, British Columbia. Kaleden is a small and quiet community that relies on the good weather of the Okanagan Valley to produce excellent crops like fruits and wines. Kaleden Hotel Park makes a nice stopover and is an interesting attraction for anybody hiking on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail going from Penticton to Okanagan Falls or vice versa.
Veterans Memorial is certainly not a hugely popular attraction in Osoyoos, British Columbia, but it does offer a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the great views of Osoyoos Lake looking towards the U.S.A. The park was created in order to remember the brave men and women who fought in wars for the Canadian Armed Forces. It features several benches and an arrangement of gardens containing many different desert plants from other parts of the world. The gardens boast several species of cold-hardy cacti including the large cholla cactus as well as a few species of yucca.
Revelstoke, British Columbia is a small mountain town with an abundance of adventure-filled activities for visitors of all ages. From the gorgeous turquoise lakes and the rugged alpine peaks of Mount Revelstoke National Park to the peaceful sounds of Begbie Falls and its lovely beach area, Revelstoke has something great to offer for almost anybody who visits this gem of a town. Revelstoke is situated on the banks of the mighty Columbia River and is also home to the BC Hydro owned Revelstoke Dam. The dam uses the Columbia River to make electricity for BC’s residents and in turn, created Lake Revelstoke, which provides an excellent recreation area for locals and visitors alike.
3 Valley Gap Heritage Ghost Town is located at the head of Three Valley Lake in the spectacular Monashee Mountains of the Kootenays region of British Columbia. It is surrounded by steep mountain peaks that carry snow on their tops for much of the summer and gush with waterfalls from the spring runoff. With the European style, Chateau in the foreground, and the dramatic mountains, waterfalls, and lake in the background the area resembles something you would possibly see in Switzerland.
Pollença is a picturesque mountain town that is situated in the north part of the island of Mallorca in Spain and is perfectly nestled at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, which is a large mountain range that is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located near the dramatic Cap de Formentor and the wonderful beach town of Alcúdia. The town is inland about 6km from its neighbor Port de Pollensa and features medieval architecture, a historic past, and beautiful Mallorcan countryside. Pollenca possesses a fantastic old-world charm with its narrow streets and brickwork typical of medieval times.
Situated in the North East of the island of Mallorca, Spain on a gorgeous beach named Platja de Muro lies Torre d'enfilació. It features mysterious Egyptian-like obelisks that were said to have been built by the Spanish Navy just after the Spanish Guerra Civil. There 28 towers in total that were used for spotting submarines off the coast until better technologies made them obsolete. Now they are quite the neat tourist attraction, along with the hiking trails located throughout the sand dunes. The dunes are home to a unique ecosystem that has an interesting pine forest.
The Xunantunich Mayan ruins are an ancient archaeological site located 70 miles inland deep into the jungles of Belize, near the city of San Ignacio and right on the border of Guatemala. It is a smaller ruins site in terms of area, but the largest Mayan temple, “El Castillo” rises high above the trees giving you an incredible 360 view and with its height is actually the second tallest structure in Belize after another temple at Caracol. Upon arriving at the park there will be an entrance fee of $5 BZD or $2.50 USD, which is well worth it for the experience.
Cala Sant Vicenc, Spain is a quaint seaside village, that is beautifully tucked into in the vast Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, offering up the scenery that is difficult to rival. Dramatic cliffs, azure water, and fascinating history going back nearly 4000 years make Cala Sant Vicenc an ideal destination for your Majorca travel itinerary. The village has plenty of restaurant and hotel options as well as several beaches to sit and relax for the day. There is also an abundant amount of hiking to be done around the village, as well as several interesting prehistoric caves that are free to explore.
Located a mere 35km south of Barcelona is the picture-perfect town of Sitges, Spain. It has a very classy feel to it and has been a popular playground for the wealthy since the early 1900s and it’s because of this popularity that it also has some of the most expensive real estate in Europe.
Tarragona, Spain is the perfect destination for history fanatics such as myself and really for anybody looking to find beautiful sights around every corner. Tarragona’s history goes so far back that the actual founding date is still unknown, though there is a theory that the city goes back to at least 2407 BC to the times of an Ethiopian pharoah named Tearcon, who ruled over parts of Spain.
Old Town Alcudia is a well preserved medieval town located on the incredibly gorgeous island of Mallorca, Spain, that was built in the 13th-14th centuries. The name Alcudia points even further towards the past to the islands Arabic history, you see in 905AD the island of Mallorca came under Muslim rule and their reign lasted till 1229AD, until King James I, of Aragon captured the island for the crown and immediately started with the construction of Alcudia.
London, England is a place with an incredibly rich and diverse history going back as far as, well… before history. Structures found in the River Thames push the dates of occupation in the area back to 4,800 BC, but it wasn’t until the Romans came that it earned its status in history and they named it Londinium, coincidence, I think not.
There are two words that perfectly describe Cuba and those are friendly and safe. Not only that, but Cuba is incredibly beautiful and definitely very unique to the rest of the world. A place seemingly stuck suspended in time, but with a culturally liberal feel. It is a multicultural, but a tension-less place with people who seem to blend together as well as the glorious cafe con leche(Cuban coffee), that you will be sure to fall in love with on your journeys in Cuba.
